George Carman moved to Phillips County around 1870, a few years later his family built a 13-room house
made of rock taken from a quarry about three miles north of the house
The remains of the house still stand on the north side of Highway 36 halfway between Phillipsburg and Stuttgart.
The Carman House - located just West of Phillipsburg on Hwy 36,
the limestone house is rumored to be the place of an Indian invasion.

The rodeo grounds and home of Kansas' Biggest Rodeo, which is held the first weekend of August every year.
